IMG question for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_Tully[edit]
Hi OxOa, You were so kind to help me with questions about copyrights on a photo I had used for my article. So it was removed, but now someone has added the same photo back in. I am unfortunately not skilled enough yet, to see where they got that copy from, and if THAT is in fact copied with copyrights that works. Do you know how I can check that? Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it! Best, Mwikiforce Mwikiforce (talk) 15:12, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Mwikiforce Thanks for the notice. In this case, since the uploader gave the correct authorship, I can’t rule out that the uploader did have the consent of the photographer. In any case, however, a written permission from the author is still required. 0x0a (talk) 16:01, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, that's cool! What's the difference of authorship and written consent from the author? Where do you see the author? Maybe I can reach out to them (if I can find them) and ask for a written consent? :-) thank you SO much!! This is incredibly helpful! - @Mwikiforce Hi, this can be inferred. We know Shawn Tully is a journalist at Fortune Magazine. Coincidentally, Mia Diehl is a photographer at Fortune Media according to the page. So, it's reasonable to attribute this photo to Mia Diehl. However, the uploader is clearly not the author, and we need explicit permission from the author to indicate his consent to publish it under the given license. A written permission can be sent directly to VRT via email from the author. Or by uploading a scan copy of paper permission, please see COM:VRT for details. I think Mia Diehl's email address has been posted here, you may have a try. Best. 0x0a (talk) 20:36, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- OMG! You are amazing! Where did you find this info? Can I find it somewhere? I will definitely try to write her.
- I have also gone online and found some videos on both Fortune where I took snapshots (not behind a paywall), and on YouTube. Would I be able to use both of those - if I can’t get a permission? Thank you SO much OxOa! This is SO helpful!
- best, Mwikiforce :-) Mwikiforce (talk) 21:42, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- I thought I answered this already, but didn’t see it for some reason on the thread. I found some videos on Fortune, and on YouTube that I thought I could use instead. I know you answered on YouTube, but how about Fortune? Can I use screenshots from thee too? Mwikiforce (talk) 22:06, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Mwikiforce You don't upload videos from Fortune without consent from the authors. Not every author agree their works hosted on wikimedia for free use. 0x0a (talk) 05:15, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- Got it. That makes sense :-) Thank you again for the advice! :-) Mwikiforce (talk) 20:31, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

EvanWangROC (talk) 00:59, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
0x0a (talk) 02:21, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
0x0a (talk) 02:37, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
EvanWangROC (talk) 04:38, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

File:Marilyn Miller, ca. 1928.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

About mendipite.webp[edit]
Hi! I’m not sure how to proceed now, but the permission of the file is shown in the website of the author. Thanks. Yuanga (talk) 09:22, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Yuanga OK, I see. The permission is sufficient. I've added this URL in the "permission" parameter. 0x0a (talk) 10:09, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot! --Yuanga (talk) 10:50, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Congratulations, dear license reviewer[edit]
Hi 0x0a, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review and files from other sources. You can enable the LicenseReview gadget from Preferences.
Important: You should not review your own uploads, nor those of anyone closely related to you!
Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. You can also add {{User license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! Killarnee (talk) 19:12, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
