Category specificity (avoid redundant supercategories)[edit]
If an image is correctly tagged with "Category SVG flags", it shouldn't be also be tagged "Category SVG". AnonMoos 23:53, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, okay, I'm sorry. I didn't know that. Thank you - it won't happen again. Doodle-doo Ħ 13:44, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Réponse[edit]
Bonjour. Cordialement, Gilles Ciment
I tried to remove the tilt. I'm not 100% sure it succeeded. The horizon is somewhat vague on the right making it difficult to see where exacltly the horizon is. S Sepp 14:58, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Note to self:[edit]
Translate Image:Quintana.jpg from portuguese to english and maybe french. Also, add infobox. Doodle-doo Ħ 18:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Editing[edit]
I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 with a cloning tool, but you can use any editing software that has a cloning tool. --Digon3 talk 14:36, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Re:Image:Infermir.jpg[edit]
Thank you for being so kind to me, Doodledoo (I did saw your comment). I do know how to make animation. I'm not sure I'd like to spend time on it. I really do not care so much about any of my images getting an FP status. My goal is to bring some new topics to FP. That's why I nominate underwater, helicopter and so on images. Thank you.--Mbz1 22:05, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Mbz1
- Thank you,Doodledoo. No, I'm not with the press. I'm not a professional photographer. I have not sold any of my images ever (Few people wanted to buy my images, but I like to give them away for free). My images were published in few magazines, newspapers and books around the world. One of my images was exhibited in UN in Vienna and than in few museums in USA. I was offered to make exhibit of my images in San Francisco planetarium, but I refused. It was too expensive to print and to frame them. Btw at least 2 of my images, which are going to be published in a near feature were opposed FP status at Wikipedia. It would have been funny, if it were not so sad.--Mbz1 22:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, in my opinion Wikipedia is first of all encyclopedia. I'm taking images of rare and interesting atmospheric optics phenomena that in my opinion would have made a nice addition to FP. Oh, well...One more story: many of my images were taking with my old film Canon. I have no scanner, so, when I'd like to post an old image I just take a picture of the picture. The quality is of course so-so. A month or so ago I was contacted by the editor of Israeli science magazine for kids with the request to publish one of these images. I e-mailed to him that I'm going to send him a negative. He was more than surprised. He said he did not need a negative and the quality is just fine. He sent me the magazine and 3x5 color images looks not bad at all. I even cannot imagine what would opposes I would get, if I were silly enough to nominate it on FP--Mbz1 22:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- It is all a matter of time (and money too of course). You cannot imagine how many negatives I have. I've been 2 times to Antarctica, 2 times to Africa, two times to Canadian Arctic, to Indonesia, to Papua new Guinea, to Australia , To Easter Island and so on, so on. It is hard for me to find a print, leave alone a negative (I do have all of them there's just way too many). Btw, I live in San Francisco--Mbz1 23:11, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- I was born in Ukraine and ever since I could remember myself I wanted to travel. It was a forbidden fruit in Soviet Union. I'm glad I was able at least partly to live my dream.--Mbz1 23:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Bonjour. Je ne modifie jamais les photographies que je prends par l'informatique, car je ne sais pas comment faire. Du coup, je n'utilise pas le format RAW. La seule version de l'image que je possède est celle que j'ai chargée, malheureusement. Thierry Caro 21:18, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Loch Fada Storr Skye[edit]
Hello Doodledoo, you commented on Image:Loch Fada Storr Skye 2007-08-22.jpg and blurryness in the foreground. Are there particular areas that are unsharp? There are some grassy islands in the loch, if it were in this area I would understand it as I had very little overlap there in the stitch (the photo of this area was very unsharp). But if it is elsewhere as well, then my camera has a problem since being repaired. See Inverness Castle in Commons:Photography critiques for another shot with an "unsharp" verdict. -- Klaus with K 15:08, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Hello again, right now I took the plunge and nominated Image:Loch Fada Storr Skye 2007-08-22.jpg at FPC. How may it fare? -- Klaus with K 15:00, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Once again Isle of Skye, correcting a perspective problem I restitched the image yielding Image:Loch Fada Storr Skye restitch 2007-08-22.jpg. Helsinki Cathedral[edit]
Hi. My image of The Lutheran Cathedral in Helsinki is up for FP nominations. As you have regarded it favourably on QIC, could you possibly assess it on FPC too. Thanks. Lycaon 13:48, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello.
Thanks a lot for that barnstar. Glad to see that you appreciate my creations with that excellent tool which is Inkscape. I hope being able to make many other valuable contributions for the project.

Image deletion warning | Image:Choctaw_seal.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

I am the creator of Image:Gas range.svg. I saw that you added the image "Oven and range.svg" for the Nuvola 2.0+ collection. I wanted to tell you that I did the image I did so that there would be some kind of cooking appliance, but I have to tell you that you've done a great job on your image, it really has that "pop" effect that is the difference between an ordinary image (like what I did) and something that's really good (like yours.) Thanks for helping to add another image to the collection (especially one that's demonstrably better than the one I did). Rfc1394 02:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Notice[edit]
You've recently noted that there is a quality problem 'in full size' with [1]. The image has been added a tag that helps view it at more comfortable resolutions (800px, 1500px, 2000px wide) and I was hoping that you'll reconsider your vote. Jaakobou 15:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:47, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
